Camp HUFF-N-PUFF
For over 31 years, Camp Huff-n-Puff has allowed children with asthma to participate in a special four-day overnight camping adventure. Camp is held each August at the Jumonville Camp and Conference Center in Hopwood, PA (near Uniontown). Designed for children between the ages of 8 and 13, campers participate in educational sessions covering self-management of their asthma. A staff of medical doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists and volunteers, including counselors with asthma, are on hand to ensure that campers enjoy a safe, educational and fun experience.
Asthma does not have to hamper children’s lives. By learning the skills to properly manage their asthma and experiencing a positive peer environment, Camp Huff-n-Puff provides a learning experience for children with asthma that combines recreational activities with valuable training to improve their quality of life long after camp is over. Camp tuition is $125. A non-refundable $25.00 registration fee is required and is applied towards the tuition. HealthyLungs also offers full and partial scholarships, based on financial need, that enable nearly 80 percent of campers to attend for free or at a significant cost reduction.
