Professional Student Training
HealthyLungs School Asthma Initiative (SAI) offers community outreach opportunities and support to professional students in the healthcare field. Students from area nursing, respiratory care and pharmacy schools receive training and insight on how to provide support to families of children with asthma.
Healthcare students then have the opportunity to act as an interdisciplinary group to present HealthyLungs school health programs within SAI’s 10-county service area. Healthcare students who are involved in the program allow HealthyLungs to reach more families and children, improving the chances for increased treatment compliance.
Students who participate in and complete the program can apply for a Scholarship, Teamwork, Achievement, Recognition and Service (STARS) Program scholarship. In addition, HealthyLungs can provide professional healthcare students with:
- View our YouTube Channel.
- Asthma Action Profile– A workbook to help healthcare students educate families of children with asthma about proper asthma management.
- Student Asthma Kit – The kit includes an Asthma Action Profile, a peak flow meter, and a spacer. Must attend educational session in order to receive.
