Tuberculosis Education/Outreach
Since 1904, HealthyLungs has promoted the fight against tuberculosis (TB). Although the organization’s name and mission has evolved to include the prevention of all lung disease, we continue to pioneer TB programs and services. Today, HealthyLungs offers public and professional TB education materials; training; and financial support for TB services and research. Professional programs include:
- Publication of TB treatment standards to assure current and consistent regimens for patient care.
- TB skin test training workshops that teach health care workers how to organize and implement a TB testing program, including administration and interpretation of the Mantoux tuberculin skin test; model TB arms for teaching skin test interpretation; rulers to measure TB test reactions and patient information wallet cards.
For more information on TB for health professionals, HealthyLungs recommends: Core Curriculum on Tuberculosis: What the Clinician Should Know (5th Edition).
HealthyLungs also implements public awareness campaigns and professional TB seminars as needed in the region.
