About Us
HealthyLungs, headquartered in Cranberry Township, Pa., is a non-profit organization (501(c)3) that helps the residents of southwestern Pennsylvania achieve and maintain optimal lung health through education, prevention, awareness and direct services.
For the last century, HealthyLungs has been a pioneer in the fight against lung disease. In 1905, the Pittsburgh Sanatorium, known as the “House on the Hill,” was opened by the organization in what is now the Hill District. The hospital provided local tuberculosis patients with the only known remedy for the disease at the time – rest and fresh air.
Throughout its rich history, HealthyLungs has been a leader in providing people with the tools and knowledge to become advocates for their own lung health by continually expanding programs and services to educate the community on chronic lung diseases including tuberculosis, COPD and asthma. HealthyLungs also provides smoking cessation services and resources for individuals and businesses alike.
HealthyLungs’s programs and services are available to residents of 10 counties including Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Fayette, Greene, Indiana, Lawrence, Washington and Westmoreland.
